Version 1.1 adds MIDI control capabilities by using the Apple Core MIDI features found in iOS 4.2, via the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit. Users can now play the iMS-20 Synth and tweak the onscreen “knobs”*1 using external MIDI devices*2. Users who also own an MS-20 Controller (bundled with the original Korg Legacy Collection software) can use it for patching cables. The six-part Drum Machine can receive different MIDI notes per part.
iMS-20 is a complete music production app for iPad, consisting of a faithful recreation of the legendary Korg MS-20 analog synthesizer with patching capabilities, a 16-step analog sequencer based on Korg's SQ-10, a six-part drum machine with dedicated pads, a seven-channel mixer with 14 types of effects and Korg's Kaoss Pad technology. Users can share their songs online via the SoundCloud network.
The Korg iMS-20 for iPad is available for download purchase from Apple's App Store (inside the iTunes Store) for a special introductory price of $15.99 (USD) until January 31, 2011, after which point the app will be available for the regular price of $32.99. Current owners can update to Version 1.1 for free. For more information, including a full list of iMS-20 specifications, please visit www.korg.com/ims20
